King Arthur’s Labyrinth Adventure

King Arthur’s Labyrinth Adventure

On the border of mid and Northern Wales, situated in southern Snowdonia is a unique adventure waiting to be stumbled upon by families and all travelers alike. King Arthur’s Labyrinth Adventure is a one of a kind family day out that manages to cram in several new and exciting element that other attractions lack. Its placement, presentation, mystery and historical education create an experience unlike anything else in the region.

Firstly, in a very Welsh manner, the heart of the attraction takes place underground. Passing through a waterfall that acts like a portal separating the natural world with the dark and mysterious happenings below, families will take part in a placid boat ride as they embark on their adventure.  Visitors hoping to look their best may be a little disappointed as they will be spending much of their time in semi darkness. Also, as far as looking cool goes, it makes sense that an attraction that invites adults and children to delve into caverns requires some safety precaution, so wary parents will be happy (though vain teens won’t) that the folks at King Arthur’s labyrinth Adventure supply visitors with hard hats which are essential. As far as clothing goes, adventurers will want to get wrapped up before arrival as the genuine caves remain at a cool ten degrees all year round. The permanent temperature and constant cover not only make this a great choice of attraction on hot summer days as well as rainy ones, but also helps those who visit really feel like they are escaping into somewhere else as the magic unfolds.

This magic and atmosphere don’t just come from the passage underneath the mountain but from the guides who accompany visitors throughout the tour. Conspicuous in their own rights, a hooded boatman straight from the dark ages will be your navigator and storyteller, passing on the numerous myths and legends that surround the area of Snowdonia. As you may imagine from its namesake, one of the characters involved in these tales is the unforgettable King Arthur himself. The boatman will reel off several stories about the great King who in his time in the area fought in battle, bested his nephew with a grudge and even went toe to toe with an enormous giant. These stories do not come without aid, impressive costumes and clothing along with wax figures and set pieces help with imagining just what it was like. Even more spectacular and poignant when in an underground lair is the story of the two dragons who fought in a fiery battle below the castle of the King. The legends say that one serpent was red and the other white, and that they lurked in the very caves that the boat passes through. In this stretch of the tour aptly named Dragon River, those brave enough to enter may just disturb the great beasts that lurk in the dark. In a daring and heart-pounding finale to the boat ride the fire breathing beasts themselves make an appearance. King Arthur’s Labyrinth Adventure is open daily from 10:00 to 16:45.
